Unbootable linux-image-2.6.26-1-mckinley on hp workstation zx6000

Hi,

Today's Lenny updates came with linux-image-2.6.26-1-mckinley (build 2.6.26-3) onboard.
But I can't boot my hp workstation zx6000 using the provided image. The last line displayed on the screen is "Loading file \EFI\debian\initrd.img...done". Then, nothing happens and I must manually shutdown the system by pressing the on/off switch (the USB driver isn't yet loaded and the keyboard is thus unworking).
Rebuilding a new initramfs didn't help. Do I have to do something else special to boot on kernel 2.6.26?

I know that on Fedora IA-64 Rawhide, kernel 2.6.26 is currently broken on SCSI-based Itanium systems, which is the case of the hp workstation zx6000.
I didn't succeed either in following Doug Chapman's initramfs rebuilding steps (see https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-ia64-list/2008-July/msg00010.html and https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-ia64-list/2008-July/msg00012.html for details), but the boot process goes farther.

Cheers,

    Émeric
