You'll probably want to use a newer nvidia driver (from nvidia.com) or move libc back down. I don't think you have any other choices.

If the X server problem started because of a libc-upgrade,
you can also try:

	LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.18 command

I doubt any of this is related to ogle.  For what it's worth, I
occasionally try DVD playback with xine, which has been working well.
