Installing ogle apparently caused libc to upgrade
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.18 doesn't seem to do anything for me.
I also tried exporting it.

I doubt any of this is related to ogle. For what it's worth, I
occasionally try DVD playback with xine, which has been working well.
