This _really_ sucks.  #ifdef __LP64__ was rather convenient.
#if defined(__LP64__) || defined (__alpha) || _MIPS_SZLONG==64 || ...
is _not_ convenient.  In the kernel, we normally use BITS_PER_LONG == 64,
I don't suppose you userspace people have anything this useful, do you?
