Version numbers in package descriptions
Hello,
Is there a consensus on what version numbers should be contained in
package descriptions when they are already in the metadata?
Most of the time they look to me as marketing, not as useful
information for users
When users want to install a specific version, tools like apt use the
metadata to get version numbers.
When version numbers are in the descriptions, translators of DDTP get
to translate the same descriptions over and over and in the meantime
users lose the translation.
I just commented on this bug report [1] that added a version number in
the description, asking not to put the version number, is this
correct?
