I admit my question was quite selfish. In order to keep things as 
consistent as possible I try to use git everywhere, mostly because it 
can work offline and it is quite fast.

For SVN repositories I use git-svn, which means that updating my 
checkout takes a lot of time.

I have also seen a general tendency of migrating away from SVN (most of 
the times to git) and I think it would be a good idea to have this in 
mind. Otherwise we may end up like the webwml repository, the last one 
to use cvs and which DSA is stuck supporting because the translation 
infrastructure is cvs-specific.
