I second that. Although I'm only very rarely involved, I like it also for the programms I maintain or when spotting minor errors in translations (e.g. misspellings). (And yes, I do "get" the translations in question). It is sure not top priority but if possible should be on the roadmap. The current format is fine, but unifying to PO is ok as well, if that is easier for you (or for some background tasks).
