<p>Welcome to this year's fifth issue of DPN, the newsletter for the
Debian community. Topics covered in this issue include:</p>
<toc-display/>

<toc-add-entry name="clang-rebuild">Rebuild of the Debian archive with clang</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Sylvestre Ledru performed a
<a href="http://sylvestre.ledru.info/blog/sylvestre/2012/02/29/rebuild_of_the_debian_archive_with_clang";>study
that rebuilt the Debian archive using clang</a>.
clang is a new C/C++/Objective-C compiler.
The goal was to evaluate the current capabilities of clang on the
compilation and C/C++/objective-C support. Results are available
on the <a href="http://clang.debian.net/";>dedicated website</a>.

<toc-add-entry name="debian-peru">Debian Peru revival</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Rudy Godoy blogged about a
<a href="http://blog.stone-head.org/debianperu/";>revival of the Debian
Peru local group</a>. The Debian Peru users group was founded in 2004 and
was quite active in spreading the word about Debian and Free Software,
but then slowed down its activity. However, in the two last weeks, the
group has become active again and they're planning various events
and meetings aimed to help people to contribute in Debian.
You can find more information in the
<a href="http://wiki.debian.org/DebianPeru";>group wiki page</a> or on
their <a href="http://listas.apesol.org/listinfo.cgi/debian-apesol.org";>mailing
list</a>.

<toc-add-entry name="dc11report">DebConf11 final report is out</a>

<p>
The DebConf organization team released the final report of the 2011
Debian Conference, which was held in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The report can be downloaded from the
<a href="http://media.debconf.org/dc11/report/";>DebConf media
website</a>.

<br />
In related news, the DebConf committee decided that DebConf13
<a href="http://www.debian.org/News/2012/20120301";>will take place in
Switzerland</a>, likely in the middle of August. The Swiss bid narrowly
won over the bid from Riga, Latvia.

<toc-add-entry name="debutsav">Debian Utsav</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Shirish Agarwal reported on the
<a href="https://flossexperiences.wordpress.com/2012/02/08/debian-utsav-coep-04-02-2012/";>Debian
Utsav</a> which took place in Pune last month. <q>Debian Utsav is
celebration of Debian folks â?? meet at one place, eat,
drink and work on Debian!</q> as Praveen â?? one of the
main organizers â?? specified in an
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-dug-in/2012/01/msg00003.html";>announcement
message</a>.
During the meeting there were some interesting talks and workshops, such as
<q>Debian history</q>, <q>What goes on in making Debian</q> and
<q>Introducing to packaging</q>.

<toc-add-entry name="other">Other news</toc-add-entry>

<p>The 29th issue of the
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2012/03/msg00000.html";>miscellaneous news for developers</a>
has been released and covers the following topics:</p>
<ul>
  <li>New Iceweasel add-on to help looking up developer sites</li>
  <li>Realtime collaborative text editing services for Debian</li>
  <li>DEP9: Availability of reconf-inetd (replacement of update-inetd)</li>
  <li>Security tracker improvements</li>
  <li>Derivatives census improvements</li>

<p>
Sylvestre Ledru wrote a
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-events-eu/2012/03/msg00000.html";>report
from the Parisian bug squashing party</a> at IRILL's offices.
104 bugs were fixed.
One of the key achievements of this BSP was by Cyril Brulebois, who fixed the last few packages which still used the Yada packaging tool.
</p>

<p>
Leandro Gómez sent out a
<a href="http://leogg.wordpress.com/2012/02/26/debconf-needs-you/";>call
for volunteers for DebConf12</a> on his blog. Leandro explained how
DebConf brings a lot of benefits to the Debian project: during the
conference, in fact, Debian contributors can share knowledge and have
discussions in order to improve various parts of Debian as packages,
translations and the infrastructure.
</p>

<p>
Jan Wagner sent a <a href="http://blog.waja.info/2012/02/26/booth-at-chemnitzer-linux-tage-2012-clt14/";>call

	<p>According to the <a href="http://udd.debian.org/bugs.cgi";>Bugs Search

	Debian 7.0 <q>Wheezy</q>, is currently affected by

385 Release-Critical bugs remain to be solved for the
