Re: please disable DDTSS for German!

Hi!

Regardless of answering to the first post in this thread I read the whole
thread.

Yes, to me it sounds like an like an overreaction. I am involved in the
translation process to German since June 2008. You say, things get worse.
I don't know anything about your QA work. There follows just one example:

<http://packages.debian.org/de/sid/sup>

In fact it was empty. But is it sure, that the reason was not a malfunction?
Sometimes the system works instable somehow (e.g. see BTS#497433 / It
happens that a package description requested via the mail interface gets
delivered, but the translation is not put into the database. ).

By the way, the reason for your annoyance now is work in progress:

http://ddtp.debian.net/ddtss/index.cgi/de/forreview/sup?1265933600

It could be pulled into the web interface.

Most of the actual German translation work is done by quite a view guys -
less than ten. Many of those using the web interface have created an
account and thus left their e-mail-adress. When I review a translation,
I can see, who pulled it in, who did the initial translation and so on.
The last twenty database entrys are listed below "Recently translated".
They can be pulled in again. Then translator and reviewers are displayed.
Currently three reviews are necessary for a translation becoming a new
database entry.

Sometimes i am also disappointed how things are going on. There are
lengthy discussion and modification processes, correcting only part of
the errors and introducing new ones.

Then I use the e-mail interface to increase the amount of translations.
Currently the e-mail interface performs only basic format checks and
there is no peer review.

I am afraid, there is a lack of manpower. I would rather suggest automatically sending the translation to the german list, when it has entered the database.
This suggestion is based on the hope that the review process did work as it
should.

How can I help in QA? I am neither DD nor DM - for now.
