Just read this file, it's indeed quite illustrating.
However considering that many translators get the aptitude POT file from
the d-i i18n web page, chances are that they've never seen this
README.i18n file (myself included). Maybe adding a pointer in the POT
file (maybe existing PO files as well) would be helpful?
