Re: Problem with iso8859 on xterm/with man(1)



The locale setting LANG does not seem to affect this problem. I have
tried (in bash) export LANG=en_US, export LANG=en_US.ISO-8859-1, also
other settings mentioned in /etc/locale.alias, such as
LANG=de_DE.ISO-8859-1.
In other languages, the man pages show up without any of the ISO latin
characters, which makes them really awkward to read. However, using lynx
to show a page with ISO latin characters works! So the characters as
such work in the xterm, only man(1) and other utilities don't show them.
