It does not show any output.
Then it isn't detected. Is it maybe sharing an IRQ with another
device so that GNU Mach gets confused and thinks it doesn't exist?
/proc/irq or something on GNU/Linux.
You could try using another NIC if possible; and if all fail, you can
always use network in GNU/Linux and then write a couple wrappers
around apt-get and stuff, so you get your software in GNU/Linux and
only install them in Debian GNU/Hurd.
