All packages you can find on Debian GNU/Linux will sooner or later be ported
to GNU/Hurd, with a few exceptions listed here:

http://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-devel-debian

Whenever you want to use a package that hasn't been compiled, you just need:

  apt-get -y install build-essential (once)
  apt-get -y build-dep package
  apt-get source -b package

and build it.

If compilation fails, you can fix the problem and send a patch :)
