missing "shutdown" command, substitutes?

Hi,

the Linux "sysvinit" package contains the
"shutdown" command.
There is no "sysvinit" package for the
Hurd since things are done differently
here.
The "halt" and "reboot" commands are
part of the "hurd" package. Both
commands are no substitutes for the
"shutdown" command since they only
constitute the final part of "shutdown".
This is obvious because after each
reboot with "reboot" one gets
"Filesystem not cleanly unmounted..."
and a fs check is done.

To avoid worse I give the "sync"
command before "reboot"ing.
Fortunately I had no serious problems
yet, still I do not want to end up with an
inconsistent (file) system. I use my Hurd
box for everyday work.

How come "shutdown" is not available
for Debian GNU/Hurd?

Thanks in advance, Martin.

P.S. Happy New Year!
