It is probably that you have to comment
sth. in a certain config file
(XF86Config?).
I am running X w/o "xfs" installed.
Did you use Marcus "startx" script?
I read that you have to be root to work
with X?
I can't remember what I did, but I am
using X as user "whoever" w/o needing
special privileges.
