Just as a general point, the Nemesis OS being developed at various UK
universities will happily share an ext2fs partition with Linux (you tell it
in what directory it was installed).

If you haven't run across Nemesis before, it's a microkernel system designed
for "multimedia" and QoS. Home page at
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/Research/SRG/netos/nemesis/ last time I looked.
