  In case anyone is interested, I've written a dummy vmware Debian package which
consists mainly of shell scripts to install vmware from the .tar.gz and remove
it again (like the system used for StarOffice and other similar things)
It's not nearly as polished as most Debian packages, partly because I go through
the vmware installer (I might be able to install it directly in the postinst
without using their install.pl, but I'm not sure what VMWare, Inc. would think
of that..), but it simplifies the installation and removal for me :)  [ it also
patches the broken Makefiles for their kernel modules -- they assume that
/usr/include/linux is a pointer to /usr/src/linux/include/linux; I use sed to
include the stuff from the kernel-headers packages instead ].

  I'll have to give this a shot sometime this week, it would make it a lot
easier to do stuff with the Hurd..
