As you ask on this list, the Hurd will be distributed upstream as source tar
archive and in the Debian GNU/Hurd distribution as nicely packaged binary.

We are talking about Free Software. We are only doing one distribution, but
we can't stop anyone from doing more.

The next release will be Debian GNU/Hurd. I think this will be the next
official Hurd distribution, if I understood correctly. However, Debian is
rather complete, and everyone can join our efforts and become a Debian
developer. So there is no point in providing frame work for "value adding"
and other proprietary concepts. As always with free software, there is also
no reason or way to discourage and prevent it. Debian can be used as a base
for other distributions, as Corel will do and others did before.

Please see above.

The copyright holder will make this decision. Currently, it is GPL I think.

What "what about"? I don't understand your question. GNU Mach isn't
completely GPL either. We will compile it and offer it in the main
distribution if it complies with the Debian Free Software Guidelines.

Thanks,
