KDE and sarge (dcopserver?)
Hi all,
I have installed Debian sarge on a 712 workstation (2.4.22 kernel if I remember
correctly). After a recent upgrade, I have found that KDE apps do not work
properly. KDE is not essential on such workstation (well not fast at least), but
I would like to be able to to test it.
I seems that KDE upgraded to version 3. I suspect the dcopserver is the cause
(or a symptom): if I try to start it manually, it get:
~# dcopserver

DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Authentication Rejected, reason : None
of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based
authentication failed

DCOPServer self-test failed.

I do not know the internal of this system. I have checked that iceauth works:
iceauth> info
Authority file: /root/.ICEauthority
File new: no
File locked: yes
Number of entries: 2
Changes honored: yes
Changes made: no
Current input: (stdin):5
iceauth>
And I also checked permissions on the /tmp directory:
~# ls -la /tmp
total 32
drwxrwxrwt 6 root root 4096 2004-01-07 17:48 .
drwxr-xr-x 21 root root 4096 2003-11-26 17:19 ..

Any hint? Do I have to upgrade to sid?
Thanks
