GNU Binary Utilities (If you ever wonder what comes from where use `dpkg
-S <binary with full path>).

There have been problems with binutils in the past, heck there are 
still some problems, though it is mostly issues with gcc or glibc 
that cause the error you see :) Since it's the kernel we get to rule
out glibc.
