I don't recall exactly which kernel is on the install CD,
but it's got be really old.

An alternative is to try a mini-ISO from ESIEE.
See www.parisc-linux.org and look for "net-install ISO" link.
I would start with the 2.4.19-pa19 and (avoid *PDC* ones) for C3k.
Once it's installed, you might look at ftp.parisc-linux.org/kernels/c3000
or .../32/ for prebuilt kernels.
