I guess your question is mainly tied to maintaining the most-haskell-packages git that I don't understand and therefore cannot give feedback on. Since you mention pandoc itself, I just want to mention that that's tracked in an independent git and I am happy to finalize and release changes to that - or even do all work on that package - as soon as possible to do so (i.e. when dependencies are in Debian experimental or unstable).
