Granted. I did however submit to my distro's tracker first to eliminate
the case of this being Debian's fault due to a distro-specific patch, as
I know happens with some other packages. Sadly, I lack the technical
knowledge to verify by myself whether this is indeed the case. I also
assumed that if this turned out not to be a Debian-specific complaint,
then someone would forward to or request resubmission on git-annex's
tracker. I take it that I have permission (or encouragement, or
whatever) to do so now.

Actually, it's always been the same request: Fix git-annex's treatment
of non-dotfiles, even if the relative path “looks like a dotfile”. Or
clarify that this is intended behavior by defining what counts as
a dotfile, in the manual.

There is now an upstream bug report (see top), which is hopefully
clearer on what I'm requesting. I'll await further discussion there,
then.
