Yup, I do agree with that, I prefer to store just the debian directory
in the versioning system, and use quilt if I need to patch the code
for whatever reason (which hasn't been neccesary in the case of the
SDL bindings), as it makes everything easier.

That would be great, if you could. I still have to replace
"Maintainer" in debian/control by the team's email, and add myself to
"Uploaders". Feel free to add you too to "Uploaders" and add the
"DM-Upload-Allowed: yes" tag, if that's OK with the Team's policies.
