And the kernel?

I thought the version in the aprsd package would work OK (I built it). I
actually haven't used it though.

I suspect kernel 2.4. I think AX.25 is known to be broken in that
version. Ask on linux-hams to confirm. I don't know which parts are
broken though. The solution is 2.2 or 2.6.
