My ax25 experiment UPDATE 9/2/2004

Hi
I have installed Debian-3.0r2-i386 on
133 MHz with 32 RAM 2G HD, Bootable CDROM
I have installed the ax25-tools, ax25-apps, libax25,
All so am trying ax25-config
I just wanted to setup a simple packet radio station.
Packet modem is a BayPac BP-2M on /dev/ttyS1
.

After several attemps trials and reinstalls, kernel compiling attemps, trials and error with a hole lot of experimenting to get ax25 working.

Today I had to reinstall Debian-3.0r2-i386 about the seventh time, this time I choosen to install vanilla just browsing though the different setting as I was reading along to my surprise the kernel is already compiled with ax25 and the modules or drivers need for baycom modems. Got everything setup to install with know problems.

Got my phone modem configed to get online to get updates and the needed packages to be installed I did installed ax25-config-0.3.3.using wget from the command line. Just to try.
To be safe I installed ax25-tools, ax25-apps, libax25.
Installed Packet terminals Xcall, LinPac and will experiment with other packet terminals later on.

Finally AX25 is working with the BayPac BP-2M modem. I am receiving packet on 144.390 (APRS) just for a test. LinPac is copying packet for the first time on this computer.

Next I will test to see if I can connect to some station to see if everything is working right. I will be posting the test at a later date just want to do some more testing and experimenting.
