Adding new contests to CX, TLF, etc.

Just a thought from someone not highly versed in C, and it's probably a
bit late to bring this up, but would there be any way to structure a
contesting program such that the contest-specific details exist in a
config file? The CX documentation seems to hint at something like this
and I find some contest-specific files for a few contests, but I am not
sure if that is really what is meant.

This would make it much easier to add additional contests than
having the contest-specific details spread throughout the source, as
appears to be the case with TLF.

Generally speaking, contest scoring consists of QSO points and
multipliers. Although the parameters for each of these are sometimes a
bit complex, there is a consistent pattern which is followed in all the
contests in which I have participated, leading me to believe that such
a structure would not be too difficult.
