You should do a "adduser g3vwh audio". On a standard debian install 
"ls -al /dev/audio" should say:

crw-rw----    1 root     audio     14,   4 Aug  8 18:07 /dev/audio

So if you are in the audio group you will have rw access to the device.
You must re-login for it to work.
