Of course it is worth doing :)

It'd probably be worth considering what needs to be done to automate
the loading of modules too. The only consideration there I think is
whether to turn the protocol aliases on or off by default .. otherwise
non-ham users will have ax25.o loaded when using commands like ifconfig
when they otherwise wouldn't need them.
