You cannot always do that (NFSv4). With NIS there is also a limit of
1023 bytes per group (approximately 100 logins).

Anyway, I recently tried to use my desktop (squeeze) with no groups
added, the re-added what I found to be necessary. I am now in:
users pulse-rt fuse libvirt

So yes, I think we can go with reducing the need for being in the groups
(while leaving the groups there for people with other needs).
