Network profile selector

I have started working on a tool to let me choose a network profile,
using the Debian "mapping" system, when I plug my (pcmcia) network card
in. It works by sending a dbus signal on ifup, and then waiting for a
while to receive a message from the client selecting a different network
profile.

The system side is written in C, the client is python+gtk+glade. It
still needs a lot of work, I especially could use some help figuring out
all the auto-tools stuff.

I think the right way for this to work would be for this to be part of
the Network Monitor applet, and for a (shudder) balloon message to be
shown when a card with multiple profiles is inserted (or in the future,
plugged in). Is that sort of patch one that Debian maintainers might
include? It would obviously be very Debian specific.

Screenshot, source (with broken autofoo) and a binary deb are at

Any thoughts, suggestions, flames etc. welcomed. I'm in Florida, so my
power/Internet connection are a bit iffy at the moment.
