Thanks a lot! That worked. One thing though: would it perhaps be possible to create a ~/.gnomerc on installation of Gnome? Never mind if it's empty or contains just a comment. It's needed just as a hint: there are so many Gnome-related .files and .dirs that I really didn't think of ~/.gnomerc in the first place. :-)
