Upgrade gedit to 2.6.0 or later; it's the only known fix to the bug since the libeel people say that gedit is at fault, "We can change libeel whenever we want to, SONAME be damned."
This goes for all gtk-gnome readers: Please stop filing bugs that gedit doesn't start. It's libeel's problem, and it's been reported several times.
