since right now the consolehelper version is done upstream, it seems
reasonable to think of the network configuration framework in debian
(/etc/network/interfaces) and how this could be accessed/configured
in the wireless-applet. a more generic network profile framework,
possibly distribution independent, would be the best for sure.

Integration of the wireless profiles into the GNOME System Tools would
be something on the way to that.
