Re: Another 2.6 upgrade

Hello all,

This is a detailed report of an upgrade from Sarge's Gnome 2.4 to
Experimental Gnome 2.6.

First things first, I added both "unstable" and "experimental" to my
sources.list file and went from there as I did previously with a
different system, only this time i tried to take notes on the things
that went wrong. This is what I got:

When libgconf2.4 was being installed, it just sits there waiting
forever... after I hit "ENTER" it continue with the installation of the
rest of the packages (This is the second time that happens to me while
installing gnome2.6 from experimental: apt-get install -t experimental
gnome-desktop-environment).

I'm running Sarge too. But ll that "apt-get install -t experimental gnome-desktop-environment" cops me is:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnome-desktop-environment: Depends: gnome-core (= 49.exp1) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: dasher but it is not going to be installed
Depends: epiphany-browser (>= 1.2.0) but it is not going to be installed or
                                      galeon (>= 1.3.13)
Depends: file-roller (>= 2.6.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gcalctool (>= 4.3.51) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gnome-about (>= 2.6.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gnome-games (>= 1:2.6.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gnome-system-monitor (>= 2.6.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gnomemeeting (>= 1.00) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

Where am I going wrong? Should I be putting all of the deps in individually/manually? I really dont want to be doing that (again).
