gnome-swallow-applet

Gnome Swallow Applet has is buggy on my system.

It works fine with any normal dockapp, but when trying to add a second it gives me the following error:

"OAFID: GNOME_Swallow"
Details: Unknown CORBA exception id: 'IDL:omg.ord/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0'

There is a bug report filed but it is tagged a unreproducable.
Yet I can reproduce it with both the official package and the one at the package's homepage http://www-unix.oit.umass.edu/~tetron/technology/swallow/

I am thinking something is seriously wrong with my system.

In addition when running gnome-theme configurator none of the themes preview properly and almost none of them change properly.

Are these related? Should I just wait for things to be fixed upstream? Or is my debian sid box on crack?

Thank you for your help in advance.
