That won't be necessary. Look at the latest changelog.Debian.gz entry
for fam:

fam (2.6.10-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
  * After a long period of testing, I am finally sure that libfam0c102
    definitely can provide libfam0 without introducing problems. libfam
    is apparently completely "extern C".

If I'm not mistaken, this means that the latest fam should enter
testing within some days.
