I think the main problem is the libc6 bugs. Half of sid will come
flooding into testing once that one is down.
In the mean time (if Michel's suggestion does not work), you could use
apt pinning and run a testing/unstable mix. WARNING: read and understand
all of apt_preferences man page first. WARNING: running testing+unstable
might be even less stable than unstable alone (although I didn't have
such problems until now). WARNING: this will force installation of
unstable libc6 and possibly quite a bit more from unstable than you
suspected - gnome2 depends on a hellofalot libraries...
