Hmm... maybe.
I have:
$ ls -l ~/.gnome2

in ~/.gnome I have a lot more of stuff. It might make sense if you
think of users moving from woody to sarge, but it's not particularly
useful for people using testing. (Nor is it nice for people who don't
use gnome-session -- but I guess those people are on our own :-).
