Somone posted to -devel a while back that they were working on a
compatibilty layer; I'm not sure how far they've gotten.

It appears Takuo has already recompiled gnome-vfs to use gnutls:

Depends: gconf2 (>= 1.2.0), libbonobo-activation4 (>= 1.0.2), libc6 (>= 2.2.4-4), libgcrypt1 (<< 1.1.99-99), libgcrypt1 (>> 1.1.7-0), libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.0.4), libgnutls4 (>= 0.4.4-1), liblinc1 (>= 0.5.0), liborbit2 (>= 2.4.0), libxml2 (>= 2.4.19-4), zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4), libgnomevfs2-common
