I'd suggest the gnome metapackage should be everything classed as part of
the GNOME Desktop: http://developer.gnome.org/dotplan/modules/ (see the
desktop section, it also references gnome-utils, etc. it's currently lists
2.0 stuff, but the differences are minor).

Then task packages for fifth toe, office, etc.

These release sets will become far more understandable to users as more
releases come out, so it's probably a good thing for Debian to be ahead of
the pack in using them. :)
