OK, the debs of GNOME 1.0 are gone, and a note that gnome 1.0 is
outdated is found in the directory.

Looks like the tree was wiped by purpose, no? (sorry, I am note
informed about the release steps of GNOME, so I just want to be sure).

I didn't note, that GNOME 1.0.50 was released.

Anyway, we have the master of the debian tree at debian.org.

So, Paolo, please comment out the section about the GNOME mirrors, and 
change the apt line to 
deb http://www.debian.org/~jim/debian-gtk-gnome/gnome-stage-slink slink main 
in the instructions.

This will fix this for now.
