Dear friends,

I am looking at changes in Podman upstream and noticed a recent upstream change affecting the packaging of `golang-github-containers-{storage,image,common}`. Upstream has merged these three repositories into a single repositoryhttps://github.com/containers/container-libs
Also, upstream has provided rationale for this in a blog post at https://blog.podman.io/2025/08/upcoming-migration-of-three-containers-repositories-to-monorepo/

My questions are:

a) If we decide to keep the separate source packages, how should we adjust the `debian/watch` file? It doesn't look like they are using GitHub releases (yet), but I do see usage of tags. What other projects have a similar setup, and how do we handle this in Debian?

b) If we opt to package everything into a single source package, what would the `debian/watch` file look like, and what version numbering scheme should we use for the transition to this new setup?

Expert advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Reinhard
