Why do you mean by "none"? Was it the contents of /etc/timezone? Also do
you remember to what pointed /etc/localtime?

Unfortunately nope. What I do remember is tzdata printing messages
along the lines of 'Your current time config is "none"'. (I clearly
remember the word 'none' appearing). Thing is, I didn't configure
anything. I used 'buildd-make-chroot' to build the build chroot (from
the buildd package that you can get on db.d.o). It worked ok until
this last upgrade...

I have made a lot of tests, I have been unable to came in such a situation.

You probably didn't test upgrading "old" chroots. Those aren't a
common setup I suppose ;)
