In the file /usr/share/gettext/intl/locale.alias it is a line:

romanian ro_RO.ISO-8859-2

which I have to change all the time to

romanian ro_RO.ISO-8859-16

when I make an upgrade.

ISO-8859-16 is the only 8-bit charset which support Romanian language,
ISO-8859-2 is just giving support for one extra letter (a breve)
compared with ISO-8859-1, so I don't see why a Romanian should use it.

Want to know more about Romanian language? Just let me know...

/usr/share/gettext/intl/locale.alias and /etc/locale.alias has been
deprecated. It's nowadays put for the backward compatibility. Please
use ro_RO.ISO-8859-16 instead of romanian. This is famous locales
style and it's standardized by some documents as you know. I close
this bug.
