Package: netkit-inetd
Version: 0.10-9
Severity: minor
Tags: sid

After upgrading my sid machine this morning, I'm getting many repeating
messages in my syslog:

Oct 18 14:02:04 p inetd[13487]: getpwnam: identd: No such user
Oct 18 14:02:04 p inetd[359]: /usr/sbin/identd: exit status 0x1
Oct 18 14:02:04 p inetd[359]: auth/tcp server failing (looping), service terminated

(The first two repeat many times, with the pid in the first
incramenting, then the last happens and it shuts up for a while.)

There is an identd user in my /etc/passwd file. :-(
identd is installed, but shouldn't have been. I'll remove it.

I fixed the problem by removing identd. If noone elase has seen this
problem, I have no objection to it being closed. (I am closing it.)

With Microsoft, failure is not an option. It is a standard feature.
