I should add that this doesn't handle spurious testcase failures well
(like the mmap-*sync case you mentioned) but it still might be very
helpful to track testcase failures in that way.

Will we switch to gcc-3.3 as default compiler anytime soon? If not this
might be a good move. OTOH Glibc 2.3.2 doesn't build on mips at the
moment.

I'd think this is a kernel issue but never got to look into this in
detail.
