Package: sudo
Version: 1.6.5p1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

sudo does not work at all (subject gives the error message). At first
glance, one could say that sudo is not setuid root but it is:

spoutnik:~ % ls -l /usr/bin/sudo
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root root 86840 Jan 19 00:50 /usr/bin/sudo
spoutnik:~ % sudo date
seteuid(0): Operation not permitted

I cannot strace it since I cannot trace setuid programs :-(

Probably Sparc-specific, I had no such problems on i386. If I have to
perform tests, that's fine, the machine is my desktop one.

A quick test shows seteuid working on a current sparc system. Removing
the "grosshack" (*g*) section of the sudo rules file works fine. In the
absence of a better testcase, I'm closing this bug. Bdale - you can
feel free to remove that section of the sudo rules now.

Tks,
Jeff Bailey
