Bug#185894: locales: en_GB.ISO-10646 will not compile so package will not configure

They come from the list presented on the screen asking what locales to
configure. (At least I don't remember ever altering a file by hand...)
Anyway, I have purged locales and am reinstalling it...and the debconf
list includes the following en_GB locales:
en_GB.ISO-8859-1
en_GB.ISO-10646 ISO-10646
Ien_GB.SO-8859-15 ISO-8859-15
en_GB.ISO8859-15 ISO-8859-15
en_GB.UTF-8 UTF-8
and I still get the error:
Generating locales...
en_GB.ISO-8859-1... done
en_GB.ISO-10646.../usr/share/i18n/locales/en_GB:25: LC_IDENTIFICATION: unknown character in field `address'
/usr/share/i18n/locales/en_GB:60: LC_MONETARY: unknown character in field `currency_symbol'
dpkg: error processing locales (--configure):
