libc5 -> libc6
Hello,
I recently took over maintaining our older Debian machines at our
company, and am very new to the whole Debian package system as I have
only previously worked with AIX, DEC, and some RedHat Linux systems.
I need to install libc6 on an old Debian 1.3 machine but I get:
dpkg: regarding libc6.2.0.7.19981211-6.deb containing libc6:
libc6 conflicts with libc5 (<< 5.4.33-7)
libc5 (version 5.4.33-6) is installed.
dpkg: error processing libc6.2.0.7.19981211-6.deb (--install):
conflicting packages - not installing libc6
Is there any way to accomplish this short of upgrading the whole system
to 2.x.x?
Thanks in advance,
Leif E. Olson
