Bug#44619: libc6: Weird stuff - performance problem

Package: libc6
Version: 2.1.2-1
Severity: normal

I encouter a significant performance loss with the new libc6-2.1.2
libraries (all versions upto -1.deb)

Here are my results for 3 different applications compiled with
gcc-2.95.1 and using the same executables througout the
experiment. The only thing which is changed is:

for libc6-2.1.2-1 I do apt-get install libc6 libc6-dev
for libc6-2.1.1-13 I do dpkg -i libc6_2.1.1-13.deb libc6-dev_2.1.1-13.deb

B1, B2, B3 are different applications. I am reporting the CPU time:

       libc6-2.1.1-13 libc6-2.1.2-1

B1 212.2s 309.9s
B2 202.9s 244.8s
B3 65.3s 94.5s

What is going on???
